Need help: Companies are abandoning producing A21 socket LEDs. Do you know someone in high-end construction or servicing on what they currently use? Cree appears to have abandoned the market.
@SwiftOnSecurity this is the relatable content I come to Mastodon for
@SwiftOnSecurity I can still find lots of them on the shelves up here in Canada. With the exchange rate now's the time to stock up. Want me to send you some?
@SwiftOnSecurity Why does it matter? Do you have a bunch of lamp shades that need a larger bulb? I would think they could pack the same luminousity into an A19 with the smaller LED package, thus making the reason for having the A21 less relevant.
@Asymmetricblue there are a lot of nuances in LED production regarding spectrum etc
@SwiftOnSecurity Sure, but can’t a Cree A19 suffice?
@SwiftOnSecurity Assuming the same innards, 2/8 extra diameter, and 7/8 extra length is the difference between A19 and A21. Both have an E26 base in North America.
@SwiftOnSecurity And if it is a length issue, not a diameter issue, they make E26 socket extenders.
@SwiftOnSecurity GE, Feit, Philips, Sylvania, EcoSmart, and Sansi all still do.
@TonyYarusso yes but which do I buy
@SwiftOnSecurity @TonyYarusso Sylvania or Phillips if you want quality, Feit if you want cheap.
@SwiftOnSecurity you have my condolences. my last house had a TON of GU-24 sockets and it was a total nightmare.
