My "Nixiez" : I am finally wrapping up a project I started in 2017 ! A DIY clock and audio amplifier duo.
Here's the github page with the code and more details than I have the patience to share here : https://github.com/dmeat-art/DMT-Nixie-clock-amp

The clock : it uses german Z5600M tubes and 4 small neon lamps, the brains are an Arduino UNO R4 Wifi with the Arduinix (http://www.arduinix.com/) shield. It connects to my Wifi Accesspoint on startup and every friday to (re)synchronize. If you power it up while pressing the button, it will create an access point and a webpage, from which you can set up your local wifi info.

ArduiNIX™

The amp uses the SGVU151 kit and IN-13 tubes. The audio part uses the ELA21306 board, as its power matches the speakers I want to use. It's okay for the moment, but I might swap if for something better if I want to revisit this project one day.

@dmeat It took you that long? I’m so glad. I’m building a music player for my daughters, with RFID cassettes. I started when the older one couldn’t read, so she could choose what she eats to hear from a picture and without having to use a UI. Now she’s 9. 🥺
@oscherler Yeah, life got in the way (and I have too many interests and ideas all the time). Keep on the projects going !
@dmeat I didn’t mean to sound critical. I know exactly how it is.

@dmeat An alarm clock is also one of my next projects. The features I want are a rotary knob to set the times, several alarm presets, and being able to easily snooze for an arbitrary number of minutes, without fully waking up, using the knob, because sometimes you just can’t wake up and need another 25 minutes, without a snooze every 9 minutes.

All inspired by the shortcomings of my current Philips Wake-Up Light.

@oscherler Pretty cool ! Go for it 💪
@dmeat I already have a prototype and most of the components. I found 8x8 matrices of 1.9mm LEDs for the main display. Now I’m trying to find a way to diffuse normal LEDs behind a stencil to add some icons.
