I have a plug that you click down to plug and click down to unplug. Well it's stuck. Completely jammed. Anyone have any ideas about how this could be unjammed as this is a one bathroom house and I'm panicking

@Retroprincess

Repeatedly press in a gentle manner.... More agitate to break the gumming up

Failing that drain the bowl and mop up the water... Wd 40 and agitate again

Best of luck

@Retroprincess do you have a hot glue gun? If yes, I would try this - scoop out as much water as you can, then dry the sink thoroughly. Blob hot glue on the plug, but not going over the edges, and glue something like a spoon vertically on to it to create a handle. Let it cool thoroughly, then try pulling it up. If it doesn't work, the worst that'll happen is the glue just pops off
@bunty oooo that's very creative!!
@Retroprincess when this happens to me I spray a load of Viakal down the drain hole and then press the plug over and over again, sometimes with a bit of a twisty motion.
@Retroprincess You will need to go at the plumbing from underneath. Do you have access under the sink? Usually a simple case of undoing the u-bend with a bucket underneath and then pushing upwards clearing any gunk. We have something similar although there is a clip you push outside the sink.
@nusher I would be the one human on earth who would try that and the house would fall down leaving the plug in situ. I'm the world's unluckiest person 😂

@Retroprincess
If you can reach under the sink, under the tap, you should find a metal rod that is the bottom end of the plug lever.
Follow that down and you should find another metal rod that runs across to the underneath of the plug.
You should be able to operate the plug from that rod as it levers the plug up.

You just need to feel your way, and operate the lever at the tap to see which way to work it by hand.

You might find that the Clevis strap in the image, has moved and there isn't enough movement to pop the plug up.

@Retroprincess late to this party bit try pushing down on the top of the plug disc and turning it counter clockwise (a pair of rubber gloves helps get more grip). If it works you can get at the pop up mechanism.
