Some of you have been asking about the #Fedivision song contest, and whether it will run this year.

#Fedivision2025 will not be run.

The organizers (@TQ, @zatnosk, and me) agree that the Fediverse has grown to a size where Fedivision doesn’t work as a format any more. We have so many talented amateur musicians here that it’s not practical for voters to commit the hours of time needed to listen to all the entries. The labour required to organize the event has also scaled past the point where we can do it in our spare time.

But seriously, what an amazing thing it was, and thanks to all of you for the hard work you put in over the years.

I wouldn't know the folks on here that I do without it, I wouldn't have discovered Radio Free Fedi, I wouldn't have got involved in #BonkWave (I met Yoni Den through #Fedivision)

Entering Grazers in 2023 pretty much kick-started my whole music-related experience here in the Fediverse..

... Then to actually win it last year?!!!!! I still think you folks all got together to play a joke on me there.

So sad to see it go, but I was genuinely worried about how you could ever do another one after the size of last year, so I can't say I'm surprised.

It burned brightly, while it lasted!

I only just started recording my own songs (last year) after learning to play the guitar again. The best song I ever wrote (or likely will write) is nearing completion.

@mysturji @futzle Publish it under the #FediVision2025 hashtag and we can treat it as a Jam or Festival of music, thather than a competition! That way it doesn't need to be organised!
