#gratefuldead collector news - for a long time the "last missing show" (aka the latest show for which there is no recording at all) has been 2.6.79 Tulsa - but a source just circulated today. Is the tape good? Probably not! Is the show any good? No idea. I'll find out both soon lol
@mrcompletely no way! I was just getting ready to write about that show in my upcoming blog for the week in GD history. Will have to check that tape out!
@GratefulDeadBook yup Charlie posted a tape this morning
@mrcompletely listening now! It’s a little rough but good enough to review!
@mrcompletely wait, wait wait....out of like 3,000 shows, there's only 1 that's missing?! And now it's been located? That's absolutely insane to me.

@Evdude no - it was the chronologically latest show for which there was no recording in public circulation. There are definitely other shows we know were played but we don't have any tape: just under 400 per Jerrybase in fact, though over 300 of those are from 1968 or earlier. This pushes the latest missing show back to 1971. The 1978 and 1973 dates on this list are available as video and on an official audio release respectively

@mrcompletely ahh that makes much more sense 🙏
@mrcompletely it IS William LaFortune’s (the Tulsa Mayor) tape! I was hoping that would be the case. I love how this came together ❤️
@GratefulDeadBook yeah looks like his master and the version we have is from his brother's first generation copy
@mrcompletely what's the verdict?
@AndrewBC it's pretty muffled and distant as expected based on the notes
