That's what I don't get.
@VeroniqueB99 ...likewise....there is no downside to cleaning up....save for those profiting off of our destruction.
@VeroniqueB99 @Eetschrijver It's about the business model for capitalism that needs to die with saving the planet. That is what they don't want. They like having shortterm money more than
life in the long term. Sad but true.

@Nienkez @Eetschrijver

That. makes. ZERO. sense...🤷‍♀️

@VeroniqueB99 @Eetschrijver Not if you think you can insulate yourself from negative consequences.
Which these biljonairs believe. And they control the information with social and mainstream media.
So they offer up migrants and LGBTQ + people as red meat for the masses. These biljonairs truly drank the cool-aid and thinks they are better than us because they're rich. Like the American Dream says.
@VeroniqueB99 @Nienkez @Eetschrijver Adding to what @Nienkez said, there was a trend a couple years ago where billionaires were making bunkers and going hard into the prepper lifestyle (Zuck and Peter Thiel comes to mind). I guess they have sufficiently made whatever arrangements to their satisfaction to shield them from the fallout of what they're doing now.

@VeroniqueB99 have you seen the reports from sex workers after the recent WEF conference? it appears most who claim climate change isn't real know very well that it is, they simply believe it's too late and we're all going to die, therefore they have elected to enjoy life until we're dead instead of saving anything... it's impressively fucked up

'The elephant in the room is climate change. Everyone knows it can't be prevented any more,' she said, adding that the 'super rich' could generally be split into two groups on the topic.'The one group thinks it only affects the poor, the "not-white race", while the others fear that it could get worse but there's no sense in trying to do anything about it so they just enjoy themselves,' she told MailOnline.https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14314191/global-elite-Davos-high-class-escort-spills-beans.html

What the global elite reveal to Davos sex workers: High-class escort spills the beans on what happens behind closed doors - and how wealthy 'know the world is doomed, so may as well go out with a bang'

EXCLUSIVE: Salome Balthus, 40, is a high-end escort and author from Berlin who has travelled to Davos, Switzerland, to meet up with clients during the World Economic Forum (WEF).

@froge

I have not... that is seriously effed up but also not surprising... 😭

@froge @VeroniqueB99
Yeah that's what I figured they thought. Useless people.

@VeroniqueB99
The set of influential people that don't think climate change is real is vanishingly small. I am not even sure Trump is in that set.

The thing is - They don't care.

All that is important is getting to the top of the power or money pyramid.

@ocratato

But that makes no sense... if they believe it's real, they also have children, and if the Earth explodes, they also die, so what's the need for $ and power?...

@VeroniqueB99

It might not make sense to us, but if you are a sociopath your own power is the only thing that is important.

Just remember when listening to any of these people: THEY DON"T CARE!

They will say whatever it is they think you want to hear. It doesn't matter if it directly contradicts what they said yesterday.

Unlike politicians of the past they are beyond shame. They don't care what you think of them.

@ocratato

I'm so sad you're 100% correct.

Which pretty much spells our doom.

@VeroniqueB99 it's important to recognise the fear of immediate economic costs that drive people to dismiss environmental action as worrying about a future that is irrelevant for them if they can't get through today. There may be billionaires manipulating them, but to dismiss real fears is to misunderstand how to effect change in democracy.

@VeroniqueB99

... fairer, cheaper, more peaceful...

@VeroniqueB99 we will die anyway. That's the reason why the rich and the hyper individuals don't care. ... 🤔
@VeroniqueB99 I want to be optimistic and believe that we are still in time to rebel, how? by changing our habits: why do we continue to buy 250ml bottles of water in plastic containers? why do we buy 10g of ham packaged in 20g of plastic? Why do we buy vegetables produced 3000km away? We can still do a lot before giving up... If only every person could do a single action for the planet...
@allanon Yeah (you're right) but it's a little more than just all individuals give up straws and you got it... for ex. not every country is doing what they can/should to reduce their carbon footprint.....the worst offenders are of course the usual suspects (but I saw a documentary about trash barges sent from all over the West over to India and you know how they dispose of those? They push that into the ocean....🤷‍♀️). You're very right but it's going to take A LOT more.
@VeroniqueB99 I'm aware about all the indecent things about poor countries dismantling garbage of rich countries and I know that what I said is pretty banal and simplistic.
But we have a great impact on the market, we are the buyers and we have the power to buy or not products and when the rich ones see their profits going down they change, not for us o.c. but to reduce their money loss.
Until one day they will feed us like we are doing with our pets... but we still have time, I hope.
