holga@Daojoan I know not few people who even a few years ago cheered musk on, identified with him, especially in tech circles. Many "technologists" believe they are immune to fascist thought while not realizing how Ayan Rand's thinking played and plays a sizable ideological role in the minds of current tech billionaires, and it's much about supremacist ideology, a core foundation of fascist identities. Tech people are actually very susceptible to it I'd wager.
Alanna 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️@hpk @Daojoan I think a lot of tech people like the idea of Anarchism and/or Libertarianism (which is far broader than Ayn Rand) but become enamoured by Objectivism, which is just one mid 20th century interpretation of Libertarianism.
Like, in my early twenties I was very into some of Rand's stuff. Then I grew up and realized I'm actually more of an anarchist. Musk reminds me of the horrible person I could be if I hadn't grown up from the person I was in my late teens/early twenties.
