Residents in Nijmegen, a Dutch city, gathered to read out loud all known victims of the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict. It took them 1.5 hours to read out the names of all Israeli victims. It took them more than 100 hours to read out the names of the Palestinian victims.

Every flag is black in a fire!

https://crimethinc.com/TheBlackFlag

"The black flag means negation, anger, outrage, mourning, beauty, hope, the fostering and sheltering of new forms of life and relationship with this earth. We are proud to carry it, sorry we have to, and await the day when such a symbol will no longer be necessary."

The so called "tragedy of the commons" is rather a tragedy of the neoliberal attitude that externalizes care. Peoples have been very well able to care for their environment. Elinor Ostrom and many anthropologists provide numerous examples of humans not only caring but enriching their environment. But our capitalist mindsets must believe in the "tragedy of the commons" because otherwise there would be no "natural" justification for not caring and letting go things to shit and the planet to heat
Many people.i talk with and know, like to imagine "future technologies" and are quite well informed on current developments and technologies ... Which are coming with hypes often fueled by money interests. Despite numerous hypes failing to deliver, sometimes at all, manufactured popularity and hypes still drive tech development cycles. Everyone is talking about Xshiny so it must be interesting, right? I prefer to work with a few people I like to do things together with and see what we can do.
It's important to understand that the climate crisis isn't a technological problem looking for a solution, but a systemic one looking for dismantling.

Instead of AI wouldn't it be useful if the German government invested into core infrastructure for trains and bicycles, and powering it with _current_ energy (also termed "renewables" but it's really just about using the massive energy around us every day).

Instead, current mainstream industrial policy remains to keep digging out past concentrated energy (fossil and nuclear) that was already safely stored away ... and burn it, injecting more and more heat into the biosphere.

Today I will spend hours in the @EUCommission's #DMA workshop with #Apple so you don't have to. It'll be painful, it'll be funny, it'll be hot! 😆

The workshop starts with Apple lawyers speaking time in which they are supposed to explain how they comply with the #DigitalMarketsAct. Instead, they waste everybody's time with marketing BS and pointless rants against the law (or as they say "the Commission's interpretation of the law").

What a waste.

Emma Goldman — born #onthisday in 1869 — was a radical critic of capitalism, the state, patriarchy and colonialism during the fertile political years of the late 19th and early 20th century.
