Unlike Big Tech, Proton will not comply with subpoenas from the incoming Trump administration (just like we refused all subpoenas from the Biden administration), as it would be illegal under Article 271 of the Swiss criminal code.

@protonprivacy that's cool, but your CEO was recently big-upping US republicans. What's up with that?

Are you a pro-authoritarian company, or is that 'just' the CEO's personal stance?

@bazkie

Our CEO pointed this out himself not long ago over on X:

As a Swiss organization, Proton is not controlled by any individual, but by the board of our non-profit foundation, which has neutrality in its governing principles.

Trump illegally entering Switzerland would be ironic, our immigration laws are tougher than his wildest proposals. Jokes aside, @ProtonPrivacy doesn't comply with US subpoenas, it doesn't matter if it's Biden or Trump in power.

X (formerly Twitter)

@protonprivacy so then, the position of the board is 180 degrees opposed to the position of the CEO on some very important topics. Because it's clear from your CEO's (earlier) tweet, as well as some in-depth doubling-down on reddit, that he is not politically neutral at all.

Shouldn't this be grounds for finding a new CEO? Will the board hold a discussion/vote over this?

@bazkie @protonprivacy Oh come on give them a break. Drama is over, things were explained, time to move on.
