Trump is threatening ”shock and awe” next week. I fear that he’s hoping he can trigger huge protests, use that as an excuse to crack down hard, exert power over protesters—including using violence against them—to set a precedent, create fear, and ultimately shut down further efforts.

@GottaLaff

Protests in the street are totally ignored by autocrats - often only bringing blowback.

Protestors - and all decent people - need to be looking at a #GeneralStrike

@TCatInReality I wish. Will Bunch has been calling for that for YEARS. Nobody runs with it.

@GottaLaff

Maybe a few more failed protests will cause people to reconsider tactics.

@TCatInReality I don’t know. Americans seem reluctant to unite against this asshole
@GottaLaff @TCatInReality
How do you unite with the virtually 50% of those that have an interest in what is happening actually want it to happen. Until things collapse enough to affect them, nothing substantial will happen.

@dsmdexter @GottaLaff

Did you mean the 50% that have no interest in politics? Those are the ones who don't vote and just let this all happen

@TCatInReality @GottaLaff
No, I was talking about the ones who did get off their asses and chose to elect a dictator.
@dsmdexter @GottaLaff
Ah, the 50% of those who voted. But there's far more people who didn't vote at all - and that's why we get nutjobs like him.
@TCatInReality @GottaLaff
There is no reason to believe that had they all voted, they would have voted in any different percentages to those that did vote.

@dsmdexter @GottaLaff

And no reason to think it would be the same.

But yes, an even bigger problem is the propaganda/normalization machine that led 76M to believe electing a felon was a remotely sensible act.

@TCatInReality @GottaLaff
The law of large numbers says that the distribution would be similar. I haven't seen a representation of the demographics of those who didn't vote to see if they are similar to those who did vote.
