I've been diving into the world of two-colour stranded knitting by recreating the pattern from this 12th century sock found in Egypt. It's so stunning and the process so enjoyable that I wrote a substack for it!

Knitting through time: Recreating ancient colourwork

I was looking for stranded colourwork using only two colours, and what a stunning example these 12th century Islamic socks are!

@socherryknits cool post! have you considered moving off substack because of their commitment to not removing Nazi posts?

https://glennloury.substack.com/p/the-nazis-are-staying-on-substack

writers like this and their comment sections are also very pro Nazi speech

Writing on substack nowadays can give the wrong signal to your audience, even something like medium would be better

There's also https://buttondown.email/ which is free for up to 100 subscribers

The Nazis Are Staying on Substack. Should I?

Back in November, the journalist Jonathan Katz wrote a piece for the Atlantic called “Substack Has a Nazi Problem.” In it, he documents several paid Substacks that employ explicit Nazi, Nazi-affiliated, and white nationalist imagery and language.

@crmsnbleyd I'm both grateful and gutted that you drew my attention to this. I wasn't aware and I'm going to have to do some research now. I've spent the week so happy that I now have 9 free subscribers as well...
@socherryknits I believe a lot of tools allow you to port your subscribers
@crmsnbleyd I wonder how my subscribers would feel about that 🤔 lots to think about
@socherryknits it's so beautiful 🤩
@leroimiracle ❤️ aww, thank you so much, I really enjoyed the process and the research - it's such a beautiful pattern!
@socherryknits
