Everyone’s talking about how the AI bots made by Meta are bad, but just a reminder you can make your own Meta AI chatbot right inside Messenger and there’s definitely no problems there

@katienotopoulos

Gonna ask my Facebook AI General to fill out and submit a DoD Form 1972, Joint Tactical Air Strike Request

@shaun @katienotopoulos
Damn, you posted that 1s before I was about to.
LOL
@katienotopoulos They're throwing everything at the wall to keep this AI bubble inflated. The US tech sector is out of ideas and their ridiculous market caps depend on pushing this junk to add value
@mdc @katienotopoulos Something has to pay for Zuck's "I Want To Be A Brady" haircut
Have you spent time on CharacterAI?
I've tried it but not spent much time on it. I.... just really don't get the appeal of these chatbots, i find them tiresome and can't suspend disbelief
I only do it for work when I have to and I find it tedious. But the engagement stats displayed in there - assuming they are real - are striking and I assume that’s why Meta is doing this
So I say “who wants this” because I clearly do not, but it seems like many people perhaps really do.
@renee.diresta the stats from the early days of online advertising were striking as well -- click-through rates were outrageous. Turns out it was just the novelty of the new medium, and it quickly became the irritating cesspool we all know and love today. Parallels to this latest fad are left as an exercise for the reader.
@renee.diresta Engagement as measured by social media companies doesn't necessarily mean that people want it. They might react to it, in a "WTF is this?" sense, or they might share it to ridicule it.
katie .... some of your finest work
It’s how I met your wife
