Just begging the web devs out there to maybe open your site in Firefox even once, ever

Love how my post was basically saying "hey some of us still use Firefox"

And people come into my mentions to be like "We need to stop pretending that anyone uses Firefox"

@researchfairy Im still using firefox
@Cyborgneticz Hmm idk about that, a techbro in my mentions said nobody does
@researchfairy Good point I could be hallucinating and using opera instead? I dont remember if that took off

@researchfairy printing this toot out and waving it at NHS IT

let us use firefox you cowards

@researchfairy the most frustrating thing is when the site doesn't work because the trackers are so tightly integrated, interactions silently fail without them. I regularly have to turn off advanced tracking protection to make things work in Firefox.
@SudoCat @researchfairy when things don't work because of tracking protection i give up on that site
@researchfairy and try turning beacon.enabled to false whilst there, because many sites will implode on not being able to spy on every click you make

@researchfairy

Looking hard at all #esri stuff here.

@researchfairy I'll go beyond: try to navigate your page without using the scrollwheel for once.
@researchfairy @derickr Even a year ago, I might have agreed. It is very sad to say, but Firefox is in a slow death spiral, and we should not take extraordinary measures to save it. If you want to avoid a browser monoculture, Safari is the most viable option left. Maybe Ladybird someday.
@nick @researchfairy Safari, on Linux or Android, does that even work? And, why would it be great to just to another FAANG for a browser. Sounds like a terrible idea.
@derickr @researchfairy I don’t like that the only viable competitor to Chrome is made by Apple, or that Android doesn’t have better choices, but that is just the world we live in. Firefox hasn’t demonstrated an ability to remain viable, and they keep making disastrous choices that cost them even more market share. I really think it is a sad and terrible thing, but there is no use pretending it isn’t happening.
@nick @derickr @researchfairy Wow I wish this wasn't true. )-:

@researchfairy especially when said web dev is overriding natural controls to "style them better"

Service: you need to enable in settings. Me: in settings, it says Enabled. Service: click the checkbox to enable. Me: there is no checkbox, just says Enabled. Them: you need to do it in Chrome. Me: confirms it's some garbage custom checkbox styling in Bootstrap, not working in Firefox. 2025 is days away, why is it still like this on paid-for services? Grrr. #Firefox #CSS #CrossBrowser

@researchfairy Also, it would be nice that for official applications I would not have to install something like chrome, edge or, may gods forgive us, fucking internet explorer 6.0 with old and ruined activex plugins.
