Austin Huang ❤️@bluedemon218 Just using hashtags is not enough: you need to interact with others to gain followers on other instances so that your posts federate there; also see the last section of https://fedi.tips/how-do-i-get-more-followers-on-mastodon-and-the-fediverse/. You might also want to avoid dumping hashtags on posts with little context, some users find that suspicious.
@austin funny thing is I haven't seen anyone. I left 3-4 years ago thinking there would be more users.
@bluedemon218 The fediverse (which Mastodon is a part of) is federated - not everyone is on the same instance, so you'll have to work to reach other instances. Though, if you insist on an absolute size of the user base, then Bluesky likely has it bigger.
