Ok, what #browser alternatives are out there?
currently I'm using #Firefox (despite Mozilla), but it is slow and seems to go down the AI drain.
#Chrome is out (don't need even worse spyware).
My requirements would be
- (Arch)Linux, Windows is optional
- Fast rendering
- Working AdBlocker!
- No phoning home
- Not run by racist/transphobic assholes!
- Regular security updates
Am I looking for Unobtainium here?
@dec_hl I tried a few alternatives lately (mostly forks of Firefox, the Google shit is too deeply ingrained in any of the chromium based alternatives) and they were all worse in terms of basic functionality (getting shit done).
So I'm back to Firefox as the least worst option (disabling stuff I don't want and making sure it doesn't re-enable itself after an update). If they ever make it impossible to disable stuff then I may accept I have no choice but to jump ship.
@dec_hl I honestly have no idea how non-tech-savvy people get anything done. The amount of shit you have to disable to get to a usable state on a modern computer is staggering.
Even on my work computer, IT once complained that I had installed a non-approved program, it was ExplorerPatcher. I replied that if they insisted I use Windows 11, this was required to make it usable in my day-to-day work. They didn't reply back after that...
