Remember when we had that #WarOnTerror? And like we totally won because we always win all our wars. Cos we're on the right side. The not terror side. Anyway totally glad we had that cos now there's no #Terrorism

It wasn't all plain sailing though I can tell ya.

There were some tough moments there in the #WarOnTerror like when we had to have that debate about whether it's OK to #torture suspected terrorists, maybe it doesn't work, maybe people tell you anything to make the pain stop etc. but then Jack Bauer taught us that it totally works and you can just do it. Though you need to build some prisons in some weird places where laws don't apply but anyway. You can totally kidnap and torture people which is why there's no #terrorism now
Sure we destroyed a few countries for the #WarOnTerrorism which sounds bad but like. Turns out it's totally OK to invade countries if you have a great reason. Like terrorism or stuff. But then the problem was the baddies are protected under the Geneva conventions in war. Even criminals would get due process. And civilians are totally of limits unless, whoops, clumsy me! So we had to invent a new category of illegal combatants who you can do anything you want to, like torture to death etc. Cool.

The best part is, none of these norms became used in the wrong way, like by the wrong people, or anything. And it totally preserved and protected our freedoms, democracy, and civil liberties. All of the things the #EvilDoers were so jealous of.

So anyway, when you look around and wonder why there's no terrorism. Remember the unsung hero of this story: the #WarOnTerror

Hope you enjoyed the history lesson chaps!
