@ordrad @tangledwing Indeed. Life will survive. It's survived worse. So likely will we. We can engineer for ourselves & our domesticated animals survivable areas. It's just a matter of how *many* will survive.
In my estimation we should be gathering & preserving genetic cross sections of entire threatened habitats for later rewilding. The technology to resurrect extinct species is already in reach now. It will only grow in sophistication in coming decades.

The planet is not going to die, an ecosystem is going to die, which means many living species and hundreds of millions or maybe billions of human beings may die.
And what is worth mentioning about the bunch of powerful guys is not that they are afraid of losing money: rather the fact that they are confident to be able to survive through the catastrophe, while the most of us fade away.
