Just a reminder - THIS 👇🏼 is what it's like when government is working for the people...
@MEActNOW wasn’t Iceland’s brilliant government also run by women?

@MEActNOW responsabiliy, if else ?

Happy end of the world 🙏🌍

French president IS a banker... 😑

@MEActNOW Rumors say they also have a habit of knocking on your door wielding axes if you do something stupid like those bankers did. It's a small island; it's easy to find where you live.
@MEActNOW except they didn't bail out the UK public authorities that had invested in the Icelandic banks, or the ordinary Brits that had ... It wasn't a perfect situation. (The reason why British authorities used Icelandic banks was because they have to make the 'best' investment of public reserves by law, and weren't allowed to ask whether the promised returns were realistic, so there's a partial UK govt responsibility.)
@UkeleleEric @MEActNOW There was no legal requirement to offshore funds and not all councils were affected. Instead of Labour councils spending the money on schools they held billions offshore 'in reserve' in Icelandic banks. Gordon Brown used the Terrorism Act meant for Al Qaeda to freeze Icelandic assets in the UK causing their currency to collapse. #FTFY
@MEActNOW I am surprised we didn’t call them communists and invade
@MEActNOW Have the British local authorities who had deposits in Icelandic banks got their money back yet, or are council tax payers still bailing out Iceland's regulatory failure?
@MEActNOW it's great the government of Iceland pressured charges against the bankers and politicians involved in the 2008 crash, yet the punishment wasn't very harsh in my opinion. Sentencing responsible people to up to 5.5 years of prison for ruining your economy probably doesn't cut it. Still, much better than any other country did.

Was there not a revolution where a big proportion of the population massed outside parliament and a bench went on fire?
