And … it’s over 😢

I first started watching #TheExpanse well before the pandemic, but got stuck after S4 in 2020 🤷‍♂️

Not because I didn’t enjoy it – quite the opposite. Weird.

So when my friend Dominique Tipper came to ESA’s ESTEC Open Day in 2022, I promised her I’d finish 🙇‍♂️

Watching from S1 again with my wife, we made it to the end of S6 tonight.

Promise kept ✊

Bittersweet to think that that’s it. Although there are the books beyond, of course 😉

@markmccaughrean Wait! You’re friends with Dominique Tipper? How did that come about?

I started watching The Expanse on my own, then one night my wife walked into the living room while I was watching it, saw Shohreh Agdashloo, and yelled out, “My god! I’d fuck HER!” I couldn’t stop laughing. Anyway, she watched every episode with me from that point on.

@bodhipaksa Ha – we met at a sci-fi convention in Germany in 2019 & invited her to take part in our big Space Rocks show in 2019 in London. She later came to the ESTEC Open Day in NL in 2022 & we spent a lot of time together – she’s brilliant company & very talented.

We’ve also worked with Steven Strait, Shohreh Aghdashloo (I mean, yes), & Ty Franck & Daniel Abraham, the James SA Corey writers – check out Eps 24 & 63 of our Uplink podcast 🙂

Before you continue to YouTube

@markmccaughrean Amazing! I’d no idea that being an astronomer came with such perks! I will check out the podcast when I can.

@bodhipaksa Well, you could flip it around & say that it’s pretty amazing that actors get to spend time hanging out with some actual space scientists 🤪

Check out the full list of Uplink episodes online: will give you some idea of the cool people we’ve been able to engage in www.spacerocksofficial.com & who we have had some very enjoyable conversations with.

And we have some exciting new projects ahead with some of them 😉

@markmccaughrean It was fascinating seeing Shohreh on your show. She moves so elegantly! It was a shame you had so little time with her, but I guess that feeds into her mystique.

@bodhipaksa Err, we had well over an hour with her … 🤨

We did actually speak to her twice, but the first attempt failed due to a power cut thanks to a fire at her end in California, but she very graciously agreed to join us again a week or so later & we did a full show 🙂👍

@markmccaughrean Oh good! I’ll watch the next episode as well, then!
@bodhipaksa Did we leave both versions of the show online, the interrupted one & then the full one? Weird.
@markmccaughrean The first one you suggested watching was the interrupted one. It said something like “to be continued” in the show title.
@markmccaughrean Episode 24 is the interrupted interview. Episode 25, which I assume is the next week, is BepiColombo.

@bodhipaksa That’s very strange. When I go to the Uplink page via the web interface in Safari on my laptop, I see the original curtailed episode 24, as you say.

But when I google for it on my phone, I see the full 73 minute replacement episode. Will have to check why these are inconsistent.

Here’s the link to the longer show (I hope):

@markmccaughrean Thanks for giving the correct link. I think basically your podcast is a playlist, and the full-length interview probably just hasn't (yet) been added to the list, so it exists as a standalone video.
@bodhipaksa I've mentioned this glitch to Alex, my SR partner, & we'll get it sorted out. Seems as though some YT changes have perhaps screwed things up a bit since we ended making the Uplink series (or at least took a loooong break from making new episodes ...)
