Saying a specific movie “relies on visual effects” to tell its story is like saying another specific movie “relies on costumes” to tell its story.
@tvaziri too many movies relying on cinematography today
@jsnell @tvaziri “based on a true story” is so fake
@tvaziri They use actors! Not regular people!
@tvaziri "The director relies heavily on colour, and almost every shot includes synchronised speech."
@tvaziri A friend of mine who's a good photographer once got a comment online saying, "Your camera takes really nice photos!". He wrote back saying, "Thanks! Your keyboard writes really nice comments."
@tvaziri when I was working on Maya and told people what I did for a living, I found that many people believed that using computers meant that the director could just press a few buttons and these Hollywood-quality VFX and animations would just pop out, fully formed. A case of “I don’t understand how this works, so it must be easy!”
@tvaziri Pointing the camera at the front of the approaching train? Cheap tricks to make me think I was going to die. One star.
@tvaziri things went bad when we started combining words and pictures

@tvaziri

I mean, there's The Devil Wears Prada...

@tvaziri @siracusa
The screenplay has words! WORDS! What has this industry come to?!
