Interesting thread about EDPB opinion on AI and building LLMs on folks posts.

I feel the @osi should have considered these things with their broken #OpenAI definition that undermines the #OpenSourceDefinition

But being in such a rush to define it, I suppose stuff like meaningful consent gets in the way of projects like #OpenAI goals.

I'm never going to forgive the OSI for doing that. There was time, it would have been better to insist the training models be open.

Nobody asked for it, but I did it anyway. A quick overview of the effect of yesterday’s EDPB Opinion (No 28/2024 for those keeping count) on the consequences for AI models built unlawfully using personal data. https://www.mcgarrsolicitors.ie/2024/12/18/overview-on-edpb-opinion-28-2024-on-personal-data-in-ai-models/

Although I suppose in #techbro land things like open enthusiastic #consent get in the way.

Hence opt out rather than opt in, you can't opt out of a training set once the models have been trained on it.
