Here's my project today:
@jessegrosjean my girlfriend wanted to learn clay art, so we spent the weekend making a tic-tac-toe board which looks like a waffle! I am not artsy at all so this was a fun experience! We’re still rough around the edges (literally) but will get better with in next projects. Hopefully 👀
@potatoh A diplomatic draw so far. I just played my kid at tic-tac-toe a few days ago and managed to loose. Not on-purpose.
@jessegrosjean haha! This actually reminded of this really cool video that I watched the other day (spoler alert: it removes the fun out of the game): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNFQvX-MQgI&pp=ygUQdGljIHRhYyB0b2UgbWF0aA%3D%3D

@potatoh That problem is that I was well aware that tic-tac-toe was easily solved, I just forgot how exactly. But, now that I watch, that video is interesting with some extra info too. Thanks.
@jessegrosjean moving my stuff to my new office
@lefthandsolution I hope a new and better office, don't hurt your back
@jessegrosjean I've just published my new book! Very happy 😃 http://www.pictorialplanet.com/Book/page-2/

Pictorial Planet
@pictorialplanet Congratulations!
@jessegrosjean Thank you, Jesse! I used to live in Gray, Maine, not too far from you I suppose? Now my wife and I live in Scotland and loving it! Kind regards to you and thanks for your great software. You really know how to simplify a complicated life. Looking very forward to your Bike - as it were!!
@pictorialplanet Yes, Grey is a few hours to the south. Enjoy Scotland!
@jessegrosjean Made a ceramic enclosure for the Magic Keyboard's Touch ID sensor - it works wirelessly.
@so Oh neat. My dad is a potter, I'll have to key him in on this
@jessegrosjean I’ve been into bouldering for about three months, and it’s so much fun.
@ypwu Looking good. I used to do indoor climbing in college, mostly I remember my forearms being very tired.
@jessegrosjean It’s winter now. Set up a warm house for homeless cats.
@jessegrosjean Wow I found that I've read 105 books and spent about 273h in reading this year. I've never done this before lol. (Cuz the reading app doesn't support English, I have to make some marks on it🥲)
@zhenlingliu That's a lot of reading, I'd count that as more then one project. I tend to mostly read right before bed now, but it leads to slow progress as I tend to fall asleep and forget what I was reading.
@jessegrosjean 15 years old, and still going strong.
@jan I have a culture too and make bread quite often. But I don't think I can claim 15 years.
@jessegrosjean It is older than one of my kids, and I am almost as proud of it.

@jessegrosjean I love and use Bike constantly at work. Thank you for offering this sale!

One nice thing I’ve done recently is made by Brother HD-2300L printer AirPrint-compatible by using an old Raspberry Pi and installing CUPS on it. I followed this tutorial: https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-airprint/

It went way smoother than I thought it would, with the only real difficulty finding appropriate drivers for the printer. Thankfully, someone wrote them for CUPS for my particular printer: https://github.com/pdewacht/brlaser

@jessegrosjean It’s pretty amazing to be able to print from my iPhone or iPad. I do this pretty frequently when I sell stuff online and need to ship it. I just fire up pirateship.com on my device, create a label right there while I have the measuring tape/scale out, and send it to the printer. It’s only been a week or so, but it hasn’t yet failed in the 3 times I’ve used it.

@ogden Took me a few reads to understand what you've done, but impressive.

I often wonder what would happen if we just locked hardware technology "AS IS" for 50 years. So instead of x% of energy spent learning the new, it was instead spent repurposing the existing. I think it would lead to some interesting outcomes.

@pistach1o Ha, mastodon initially blurs that image for me, a bit to much pink purple an pink!
@jessegrosjean Hi, Jesse. I've been working on an argument-mapping app, ArguMap, for iPad / iPhone / Mac. Here's its website: https://argumap.app. And attached is a photo of it.

@chmohler Thanks for sharing, that's really neat. This seems like the kind of thing that computers should be used more for.

@jessegrosjean Love this idea/concept for a sale!

The most recent thing I made (two weeks ago) was this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COmTamijfCE

@josh Thanks and thanks for sharing. And really neat project too!
@jessegrosjean Hi Jesse. What I've done lately is shred bags and bags of old documents--moving to a new home office. What a lot of paper has accumulated in 8 years! Not very exciting or creative, but so it goes. Thanks for your helpful software!
@bkahn Clearing the space, prepping for future creativity right?
@jessegrosjean without intending to, and for the first time, I made about half of my family’s Thanksgiving meal, including this very very good banana pudding.
@danblondell Our deserts tend to be pie and ice cream focused... but that looks good, we should switch things up I think.
@jessegrosjean I made an amazing salad for myself and my son tonight! 🥗
@simoner That sounds great anytime, and especially now 2 days into eating thanksgiving leftovers.
@jessegrosjean I’ve begun to seriously edit and organize 45 years of photographs. It’s a multi-year project that is long overdue.

@timswan Not quite the same, but I've been trying to just not loose or delete any family pictures as we move from Google Drive to iCloud. I don't even care about organization, but still quite the task.

Good luck!

@jessegrosjean

Hours later, but that was a picture of two instances of Himalayan salt.

@dmatchett Ah, so is that pink , mortar and pestle type bowl, really salt that's mean to be eaten?
@jessegrosjean Well, I saved three baby possums a couple months ago who'd been separated from their mother due to hurricane flooding. Not a project, per se, but definitely something I've done. :)
@jessegrosjean Lastly I made this song for a video game project https://soundcloud.com/oinj/bovidus-sancta-virtus

@jessegrosjean this year I spent my free time building a few synthesizers and learning more about electronic music. I’m not any better at playing anything but I’m enjoying the process!
@kimonostereo I know nothing about synthesizers, but all those knobs do look very fun to play with.
@jessegrosjean I produce daily meditations three times a day to distribute to my family.
@jessegrosjean Made these for breakfast on my daughter's birthday a few days ago.
@dustan Lucky her, and lucky you (assuming you've taught her to share!).
@jessegrosjean went hiking during Thanksgiving and took this picture with a long exposure. Very happy with the shot and I am thinking of making a print of it.
@ylorn There's some interesting stuff going on with the light for sure.
@jessegrosjean Here's my favorite Indian dish for you, with easy to follow instructions.
