Moooooommmmm!!
@georgetakei I remember. It didn’t take long for my dad to get a second line because he needed calls to come through.
@georgetakei [pulling pants up] dammit, mom!!

@georgetakei

I'm having trauma flashbacks, make it stop...

@georgetakei I'm in this toot and I don't like it.
@georgetakei
I think picking up the phone is already a foreign concept for the younger generations lol.
@dgar
@georgetakei Internet? Pah! I go back far enough to remember that happening with local BBSs in the bad old days of FidoNet and the 1980s/early 90s.
@georgetakei
As was the fashion at the time.
@georgetakei with me it was roommates and like 5 lines... and then 3 years later came cable. SOOOO much better AHHHHHHH. Also, the telco industry was on fire, and then wait... what? TV from the ether? WOW. Now what's coming? *AI makes a modem chirp in giddiness*

@georgetakei

Shit. I'm even older than that.

@georgetakei I still think about this whenever I hear a fax machine go off because it was what kicked me off the Internet in my teen years. That rang and I had 2-3 minutes to wrap up whatever I was doing before losing connection.

@georgetakei and the internet would scream at you when you tried to connect to it.

It knew what was coming and we shrugged it off. So naive in hindsight …

@georgetakei lol, I literally just saw this meme template used for another internet-related meme over there on LinkedIn only minutes ago

@georgetakei

The early days of a DoS as it were.

MITM - Mom in the middle.
