"Western" societies have an upside down pyramid age structure, so more older than younger people. And the #covid pandemic has led especially this group to ask themselves 'what do I want to do in the last years of my life?' Quite some realized that meaningful relations with others, compassion and care taking including of ecosystems and future generations are the way to go. Too many (men) however seemed to have asked 'what they can get out of it' hence behave like total pricks now making daily life for many hard and are aiding the return of #fascism
#Gerontocracy #capitalism #assholery

@spiegelmix I think my 90 year old mum woukd take great exception to those sentiments. Reactionaries are throughout the demographic bands. The young ones are known as Chuds the old ones known as Gammon.
I don't think sparking intergenerational blame game will do anything for unity.
@IcePee thanks for introducing those terms, haven't heard them before. However, my post is not about intergenerational conflict. Of course reactionaries exist in all demographics, but those holding decision and monetary power on a large scale and within communities and corporations come largely from certain brackets/milieus. In addition, the major parts of right-wing and conservative voters come also from the upper half of the pyramid and are people who are doing rather fine.
