We can still see several new opensource projects creating channels on #Discord instead of #Matrix and the reason might be that many ones are simply already onboarded on Discord and making it more comfortable to new users.

@BoxyBSD It’s not an easy decision. Matrix offers decentralized networking by being fully opensource but many ones told me it’s hard to understand or to find suitable public home servers. This might be reasons to move to Discord or to bridge the channels. I’m aware that the ones here in the Fediverse prefer Matrix but it might not be the best solution to target beginners and newcomers.
@BoxyBSD projects using Discord kinda put me off becoming part of their community, as it's very easy for me to lose track of the conversations, on that platform, if I don't log-in for more than a couple of days.
@BoxyBSD please consider @zulip! Have had much better experiences with it for this kind of thing compared to the presented options

@BoxyBSD
I'd say Matrix or bridget. While I get forums are not it any more, using discord means you loose all the gathered jnowedge should Discord decide to close its doors, nuke your server or a million other things.

At least with matrix you might be able to save the info and maybe even make some kind or searchable archive.

@BoxyBSD Have you tried to simply create your own web forum? Why depend on an external resource? Recently, the Matrix server has not been working very stably, there are problems with access.
@ogogon which matrix server? We’re currently hosted on bsd.cafe and gyptazy.com which haven’t had any issues in the past for matrix? Or are you talking in general about the matrix.org server?
