Regardless of your new social network platform, create yourself a blog too, for your work, studio or random stuff. You control it and will last longer than any other app. Don’t forget the RSS feed. If you have a gamedev blog post it below so I can add to my feeds.
Here’s mine btw (yeah I should post more) https://www.david-amador.com

@djlink Thanks!

Do you host any videos on your site ? Or are they youtube embeds ?

I am planning to create a portfolio using a SSG, and I want to upload some gameplay videos. But I don't think static sites allow that ?

@kjv yeah I think you can host videos there, and embed from YouTube I do have already working as well, they work in static via html5 video tags

@djlink never miss a chance for shameless promotion, here we go: https://www.tonyschmich.de/

@djlink well. I have a blog: https://blog.buschnick.net/

It has like five posts on game dev ideas and unfinished projects on it. Does that count? 😜

@BuschnicK it does :) keep them coming!

@djlink I only post about gamedev occasionally on my blog, I think I post more about movies and TV tbh.

However there's a feed specifically for the gamedev category if you're only interested in that:

@djlink

Yes! Indie blogs are entirely in your hands.

And RSS feeds are so great, they can get distributed to any social network but you're not tied to any of them.

@djlink Here's mine. Can confirm outlasting centralized platforms, my blog/site has content from 1998-2024 :)

@djlink what blogging platform do you use?
@alastair_hm I use Hugo for my blog https://gohugo.io/

Hugo is one of the most popular open-source static site generators. With its amazing speed and flexibility, Hugo makes building websites fun again.

@djlink here’s mine, though my posts tend to be a little niche.

@djlink I write gamedev-adjacent graphics and programming articles on my website at https://30fps.net/

There's an Atom feed for which I wrote the generation code myself. It seems to work OK when I view it on Newsblur 😅

I too suffer from shouldpostmoreitis! I even have many draft posts that I keep telling myself I'll polish into something readable. Soon... Right?

@idbrii I have a few drafts myself, they usually end up in limbo for years xD
