No, Mastodon should handle this. It’s table stakes. The minute you start to explain why something is complicated, you’ve lost, people will use the easy thing.

@nuthatch in many ways, it’s been intentionally designed to add friction to interactions in the name of preventing abuse. I am not sure I understand the issue with following from the web site, though.
@jerry they post a link to follow them on Mastodon but it doesn’t work if you’re not also on their instance. Bluesky and Twitter are one-click follows in comparison 😔
@nuthatch ahh - yeah, that makes sense. I am not sure how to make that work better in this environment, but hopefully someone comes up with an idea
