Tree tunnel on the balckdowns, where today I went for a short mooch.
Just off to the right here is one of my favourite spots. It's a grove of young tall oak trees. The woodland thins slightly in the grove making it perfect to pause and spot birds flitting through the upper branches.

In the past I've seen nuthatches and tree creepers here. Today I spotted gold crests. Actually saw one doing a humming bird impression, which I've heard they do, but hadn't seen till today.

Magic.

Love the beech trees

Was hoping to spot an amethyst deceiver. Seen them a few times in this wood. Sadly none today. Lots of massive brackets, some tiny faerie umbrellas, puff balls and my favourite Candle Snuff. Also some field mushrooms and chicken o' the woods.

Sometimes the leaves fall gently on me as i walk under the canopy and it feels like a kiss blown from the wood.
The locals all know about this cute little lodge hidden in the woods. It belongs to the Fox family who have a long history with the town and the fabric mills built in the 1700s.
Anyway no long hike today. Just a gentle couple of hours exploring my doorstep Woodlands.
