I won't share it, but I've just seen a video of an Iranian student who was stopped by the morality police.

She decided to strip down to her pants and bra and stroll around on the streets of Tehran.

The morality police didn't seem to have a clue about what to do about this type of resistance.

#WomanLifeFreedom

A small update on the Iranian student who stripped down to her bra and pants in protest after being stopped by the morality police near Tehran University.

She was arrested and taken away, not by the morality police, but by the IRGC.
We don't know the rest of the story yet, but we can hazard a guess.

"A young Iranian student, reportedly harassed over her clothing, stripped to her underwear in protest.

Unverified reports say she was beaten; the university claims “mental health issues.”

But to many Iranians, her act speaks to 45 years of clerical repression.

Let women be free."

The fearless Iranian woman protesting in Tehran yesterday has been named as Ahou Daryaei.

Nothing is known about her whereabouts and concerns grow for her safety.

Say her name.

"Iranian student Ahou Daryaei disrobed after being harassed for not wearing a headscarf and having her clothing torn by security forces.

During the student's arrest, she was subjected to severe physical assault, including her head striking either a car door or a pillar, which caused heavy bleeding. Blood stains from the student were reportedly seen on the car’s tires."

Iranian student strips in protest against assault by hijab enforcers

A female Iranian student was arrested on Saturday for removing her clothing in protest after reportedly being assaulted by security forces at Tehran's Islamic Azad University over improper hijab.

Iran International

There is still no real news about what is happening to Ahou Daryaei, the student protestor in Iran.

None of this is confirmed, but it's believed she was taken to Tehran Psychiatric Hospital and the authorities have said they are treating the incident as a mental health episode. Her family have been unable to find out anything about her condition or even her whereabouts.

All there is to do right now is say her name.

Ahou Daryaei. Say Her Name.

No, really, say her name. We've seen so many young women taken into custody in Iran and they suffer varying levels of hell. What seems like an arbitrary system of abuse does have a logic.

The Islamic regime do as much as they think they can get away with, especially when they think nobody is watching.

That changes when everybody says their name.

Say Her Name.

We're still waiting for news about the young Iranian woman Ahou Daryaei, arrested for not wearing proper hijab.

I want to say no news is good news, but I also know about Niloofar Hamedi and Elahe Mohammadi, Iranian journalists who are spending 5 years in prison, just for reporting the news about Mahsa Amini, the young Iranian woman who died after being arrested for not wearing proper hijab.

No news is just a constant theme in Iran. It means nothing.

RSF calls on Iran’s judiciary to dismiss the prison summons for journalists Niloofar Hamedi and Elaheh Mohammadi — and drop all charges against them

Provisionally released in January after 17 months in detention, journalists Niloofar Hamedi and Elaheh Mohammadi have been summoned by the Iranian judiciary to serve prison sentences. Reporters Without Borders (RSF) calls on the Iranian authorities to drop the charges against these journalists once and for all.

"Iranian social activist Asieh Amini noted that while acts of resistance against mandatory hijab have become common, the specifics of this case reveal an especially painful form of protest.

Amini explained that for this student, her body became her only tool of resistance:

“There comes a time when your headscarf alone isn’t enough, and the only thing left to resist with is your body."

UN warns all eyes on Iran after woman stripped in hijab protest

The UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran says she is monitoring the case of a young Iranian woman who was forcibly detained after protesting the country’s mandatory hijab by removing her clothes at Tehran's Azad University.

I will keep scouring the internet hopefully for news of Iranian protestor Ahou Daryaei even though I know the drill. So many Iranian women get taken into custody by the regime, of course there's a drill.

We won't hear anything about her for a while. It takes that long for the authorities to blackmail her family into silence and for her wounds to heal enough for a 'confession' video to be made.

All there is to do is wait. And Say Her Name.

"In Iran, retired workers are chanting the name of a woman who bravely protested forced hijab by undressing in public.

It’s powerful to see the older generation defying the regime’s attempts to silence a woman who used her body to protest against Islamic ideology.

This is the Women, Life, Freedom movement—one woman’s courage uniting a nation. The regime should be afraid."

"In Iran, public attitudes toward the hijab - and religion, in general - has shifted dramatically in the last decade. In a state-sponsored nationwide survey conducted after the 2022 protests, 72% of respondents had said they favored a secular government .The findings were supposed to be classified but were leaked. So those in power know. They can see, but refuse to believe, let alone concede. They’d rather twist reality."

On the student who shed her clothes: If she's crazy, so are we all

A few days after a university student in Iran was bundled into an unmarked car by security forces for removing her clothes in an apparent protest at hijab-enforcers on campus, her identity and fate remain unknown.

Iran International

"Close associates of Ahou Daryaei, a student who protested against morality police harassment at Tehran’s Science and Research University by removing her clothes, have shared photos and details about her with me.

One of her associates said, “Her official name is Mahla, but her friends and close ones call her Ahou, at her request. We know her as an incredibly brave woman who never accepted coercion.”

"Ahou Daryaei has two young children. She was married once but separated from her husband some time ago. Her ex-husband was the one brought on camera by state TV, claiming to be her spouse and asking people not to share her images.

Authorities have disabled Ahou's Instagram account, where she shared many videos and photos of herself and her children, clearly showing that she was not only mentally sound but also a lively, courageous woman filled with joy and vitality."

"In sending Ahou’s pictures, this source emphasized:

“Ahou, besides being exceptionally intelligent and achieving the highest grades, was well-known among her friends and classmates for her courage and determination to stand up against oppression. She defended her rights multiple times, both in school and university, confronting harassers and bullies.”

"Ahou Daryaei was transferred under worrying circumstances to Iran Psychiatric Hospital, where significant concerns about her safety and well-being remain. The atmosphere at the psychiatric hospital has become highly secured since her arrival, with security forces isolating her in part of the emergency room, denying even hospital staff access to her."

"Yesterday, an informed source at the hospital told me that initial observations by the staff indicated Ahou was mentally healthy. However, after her initial assessment, only doctors affiliated with security agencies from outside the hospital have been allowed in her room. According to this source, it appears that authorities intend to push her to the brink of insanity through unknown pills and injections. Ahou once attempted to escape the hospital but was unsuccessful."

Iran Uses Pharmacological Torture Against Political Prisoners

"One of the victims interviewed for the report, a 27-year-old woman who said she had been raped several times during her detention, told CFPPI that she was forced into taking unidentified pills which had a profound impact on her, leading to psychotic episodes. After her release from prison, she attempted to take her own life and lost one of her kidneys."

"Iranian universities have faced heightened repression and intensified control.

The government's new "Population Growth" initiative, coupled with mandatory hijab laws, has transformed universities into enforcers of these policies, placing additional pressure on female students.

Under the policy, universities offer academic grades and incentives for observing mandatory hijab, marrying, or having children."

I read this and think of the grave yards the Iranian government must be filling. Monsters.
@ProjectFearlessness
I get this. We just elected a man to be president who is also a threat to national security.
@ballista11
You did. We went through a much milder form of collective stupidity in the U.K. when we elected Britain Trump Boris Johnson. We have an idea how you're all feeling today.
Just rest and relax and stay healthy. You've got 4 years of facing that fucker down. It definitely won't feel like it today, but you've got this.
@ProjectFearlessness Please stop appropriating the movements and efforts of Black women. We aren’t out of words to use. But “Say Her Name” is specific to Black women killed by police violence. aapf.org/sayhername
@Prainbow
I will politely disagree. From my English perspective I would say the English language is for everybody to share. Nobody owns it.
@ProjectFearlessness I wonder what would happen if all the male students started wearing burkas
@ProjectFearlessness reminds me of Amrican doctors identifying a strange mental disorder among slaves who wanted to be free
@DrorBedrack
Of course. We could go back even further to women who didn't do as their told being burned as witches. It's been going on for a long time.
@ProjectFearlessness So sad that women are still having to go thru this.💔
