On November 2nd, 1991, Vim was released. Happy cake day, #VIM! Let the celebration start with Vim Easter egg:

In case if you don't know vim 8.2+ comes with game too, try it out https://www.cyberciti.biz/open-source/killersheep-silly-game-for-vim-version-8-2/ Vim comes with a sheep game for when you're done coding and want to have some fun.
killersheep - Silly game for Vim version 8.2 - nixCraft

Killersheep is a silly game for Vim to show off new features added in 8.2, such as popup windows, text properties to highlight text and sound

@nixCraft vim 8.2 comes with a game embedded. Years ago I realized that whatever the vim team had in mind, it wasn't to focus on what had made vim great. So a game... yeah.

I forked from vim 5.7 about 15 years ago, never looked back:

@nixCraft I can't believe they implemented exit in a vim game as x and didn't think to do so elsewhere
@nixCraft Neovim has an interesting twist on this Easter egg.
@nixCraft Tried on neovim and I died
@nixCraft it's always vi to me. And I get frustrated when it starts autoindenting and coloring for me
@nixCraft Rest in peace Bram! Thanks for creating this awesome editor!
@milconuman
I use vi very often. It's my default cli editor. Vi should be installed by default on every distro. Don't use vim, no auto indents, auto colouring for me. Just a simple text editor that always works, no gui required. Useful for ssh as well 👍🙂.
Guess I'm showing my age. 🧓

"On November 2nd, 1991, Vim was released."

It should be sent back to jail for probation violations.

@nixCraft

I’m too old for this. ;)
However: I was content with vi and now, in my older days, I like to use Kate. ;)

@nixCraft Duuude! Nice one, I hadn't come across this.
@nixCraft type :smile in vim VS type :smile in nvim :D
@nixCraft And on November 3rd, 1991 someone asked for the first time “Okay but how do I quit vim?”
