Another Halloween night behind us. We had about the usual number of kids (last year it was ~1,200) and went through all 10 gallons of our “special” hot cider for the grown-ups in about 90 minutes.
For those of you thinking “twelve HUNDRED WHAAAAT the HELL”, Halloween is a Really Big Deal on our street. Like, there have been local news stories about it. Partly it’s location, but I think mostly it’s that lots and lots of people go all out decorating for Halloween and that draws families. To illustrate: this was the main part of our yard display this year. This would be considered an understated effort by the street’s standards.
@Meyerweb Sounds like there was a decoration arms race between neighbors some time in the past with each always passively aggressively trying to one-up the other and I wish I could've seen that.
@phryk “Keeping up with the boneses”, we call it.
@Meyerweb That's awful and I love it. :D
