@wanderingmagus @Luuk_Aalders @baglava @rbreich Matrix has shiny clients and is also federated, which is good. But ultimately I think interoperability comes from compliance with existing internet standards, not from venture capital funded startups cooking up their custom protocols for federation...
It's a little bit like Bluesky vs ActivityPub, but things are worse because we cannot have end-to-end encryption without a common encryption standard for example.

1. That's a reason to try and keep a fascist out of power, not pander to him.
2. If he gets into power, he won't be loyal to someone who bends the knee to his threats, he'll still probably throw them under a bus first time it's convenient.
It's just a simpler and more credible explanation that fascism isn't a problem for a billionaire.
