@oblomov I'm always so happy when I see someone using powers of two for round numbers outside of programming.

@ilikecats I actually started with powers of 10, but the second slot would have been 100 to 1000, and then 1000 to 10K, that were a bit too large. So I started clipping the second to 500, and from there for the idea of the powers of 2.

(But I *am* a programmer, so that may have had it's influence .)

@oblomov Probably at least 200 of the accounts I follow are completely inactive, they came here in the Great Xodus, decided the vibes were bad, and left.
@wollman sadly, it's a pretty common experience. I was tempted to ask about active accounts stats, but (1) they're a hassle to count (2) hope springs eternal that they'll reactivate 8-)
@oblomov most of them are totally silent.
@jasper yeah, Im thinking that maybe a follow-up poll about how many of those had been active in the last six month is due
@oblomov So, so many dead accounts after 7 years, in Following and Followers
@oblomov @angelastella
I actually didn't even know. I had to check before voting. 😆
@oblomov 36, of which one is an alt account
@oblomov A lot of my feed comes from following hashtags, not individuals.

@fm_volker oooh that's something I hadn't considered! And it's actually a pretty useful piece of information, thanks for sharing.

(I'm writing an article on Fedi vs BS, and I was curious about these stats for a point I was trying to make. Your remark actually changes things a bit.)

@oblomov

I just want to note that I, and others, may follow "group" account (like a.gup.pe or Lemmy/kbin) which may diminish the number of accounts I need to follow 🤔

@Plumereine that's interesting. On your end that'd count as a single account followed, but potentially a “high volume” one
@oblomov
Yes ! And with groups I don't need to follow the people to have their messages (in the case of Lemmy/kbin) because they are in the group😁
