In my opinion self-adjusting wire strippers are the best for wire stripping, they can strip even the tinniest wires and are the easiest to use. I have a fairly generic one, there's no branding on it, at first when I saw it I was fairly sceptical because of it, plus it was dirt cheap compared to branded ones. I thought it can't be any good, but I was proven wrong after I bought it and tried it out afterward. 😁

Plus the self-adjusting one have a scale in both sides in one side is in millimeters and in the other side is in inches for measuring the length of the stripped end of the cable. I found it useful to have it directly on the stripper so I can strip off the exact length
that I need to whenever there's a need for such precision.

Throught the years I have used different types of cheap wire strippers, although all of them still works they all have short commings e.g. they can't strip the smallest wires and yes I know not all of them are neccessarly design in that way and it's fine. I feel like I should mention I don't own any kind of certification, I just do whatever I can do by myself. 😅

I have one that can be manually adjusted with the help of a bolt and nut, but it's cumbersome to get it adjusted for a specific wire gauge. I think this one is better for electrics and I specifIcally only use it for e.g. whenever I need to install a light switch for a newly installed lamp fixture.

The other one that I have is have predetermined specific wire gauges that it can strip, but at least those gauges that are written on it I know for sure it can strip and I don't need to adjust anything. This finer-gauge wire stripper is the one I have only used for small electronics projects.

Before owning the self-adjusting one whenever I needed to strip tiny wires I used an exacto knife to strip them, but that's really not ideal because I can cut in to the core of the wire and/or cut of strands if it's a stranded wire and if it's a solid wire I can cut out pieces from the wire.

I think I don't need to explain why that's a bad thing, it's not only make them prone to ruptures but they potentionaly will not going to make that good of a contact between the board and the wire or between the surface and the wire where is being connetected
