@adamhotep They should make this illegal to own
@Jessica @adamhotep the real issue here are the search engines and data brokers backing all this shit. this device doesn't do anything but make a few API calls.
@privateger @adamhotep I mean you can make thermite with stuff in the kitchen cabinet
but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be illegal to carry it around in your pocket
@Jessica @adamhotep common precursors to drugs are also banned if its at all practical :D
@privateger @adamhotep I mean I don't really care about drugs tbf as long as it doesn't affect people too bad
I'm just saying the combination of tools like this could be dangerous and should be regulated if it becomes a thing.
@Jessica @adamhotep
I agree, but believe that we should legislate the backing services of this stuff instead.
Any person can slap together something like I-XRAY with like ten minutes of work, then sell subscription access in some way for creeps to effectively stalk people. This is gonna continue unless something is done about the APIs themselves.

https://pimeyes.com costs 30$/mo, with a free tier. You can find someone's life history with that. Shouldn't be a thing.
