The #Steam integration with #ChromeOS is a wonder. I really have to commend all the work #Valve and #Google have done.

I installed Steam and some lighter games on my #Chromebook and the installation was seamless without any hitches or tinkering.

One videogame (Wargroove) was missing its intro video but that was about it.

Steam took care of installing and automatically selecting all the #Linux runtimes and #Proton versions. I wasn't involved in any way.

@chertograd

I have only been able to install and run Steam using the built-in Linux.

How can I install it directly?

@tux If your Chromebook meets the requirements (same as with Chromebook Plus so i3, 8GB, 128GB...), you just type "steam" into the launcher and you'll see "Steam installer" (or the equivalent in your language, for me it was "Steam asennusohjelma").

It'll reserve something like 10GB for the container and you can't see its contents but the games to go to /mnt/stateful.

I don't know how they've done it but it just works. You can see the storage stuff within Steam's settings (game install size)

@chertograd

Thank you for your answer.

Unfortunately, my Chromebook only has 4 GB of memory.

And โ€œ11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1115G4 @ 3.00GHz (4 Threads, 4.10 GHz)โ€ as CPU.

I think a new Chromebook is due soon.๐Ÿ™ˆ

My favorite game #Factorio runs smoothly on the #Flatpak version of #Steam
