I've encountered my first ever footnote within a footnote. I must say, Sir Terry's usage of footnotes was always something I found so interesting about Discworld. A part of me wants to dabble in using them myself, but at the same time, I feel like I couldn't make use of them as well.

It's wildly enjoyable to see Captain Vimes, a character I'm very familiar with, struggle to do actual police work.

I do wonder how I would feel if I'd read the Discworld books in chronological order instead of the last several first. I know I'd still enjoy them, but I ponder if I'd still find Vimes, Colon, and Nobby as enjoyable as I do now if I saw them as their debut selves.

However, all of that being said, Carrot--a character I like perfectly fine, but never enjoyed as much as the others--is terrific in this book. I love seeing him as this fresh faced do-gooder with a passion to do the right thing completely at odds with the other cynical members of the City Watch

I just realized: is this book the first time Patrician Vetinari is introduced? I know the patrician of Ankh-Morpork has been introduced as early as the Color of Magic, but he was just called "The Patrician"

Sybil! Honestly, I should've guessed she'd appear in this book what with all the dragons and such, but a part of me just assumed she wouldn't appear until a later book.

I can't express how much I love the Elucidated Bretheren. Every scene with them is a delight; an absolute highlight of every reading session.

Cyoar, I've never seen Vetenari so flustered. In all the books I've read with him as a major character, he's always so collected, even in the mist dire if circumstances. If this really is his *first* appearance, it's wild to see just how much he changes over time (Much like Vimes)

"The Librarian gave him a banana."
This book is perfect. No notes.

Vimes imitating Dirty Harry, but with a small, fire-breathing dragon is one of the best images in all of Discworld.
