I hooked up a Raspberry Pi with OctoPrint to my 3D printer today and WOW, I didn't expect how much it would improve the workflow! Now I have full control over the process and control everything remotely. A completely new level! 🚀

@mixon00 wait until you discover Klipper ;)
@stooovie I've just been reading about Klipper, but I'm not sure if it's right for me. What are the main features that make it worth installing?
@mixon00 super easy changing parameters without re-flashing firmware, much, much better fast printing (Octoprint often chokes on things like arcs), hugely more responsive UI (Octoprint is incredibly slow in comparison)... the list goes on and on
@stooovie I only use Octoprint for remote printing, so I don't have to keep swapping the SD card. I suppose Klipper is a bit overkill for my needs.
@mixon00 I was looked at with quite some confusion when I said I don't care whether the printer had wifi or lan or a nice display or anything, just need usb to hook up my pi xDD I actually disconnected my old printer's display because it could interfere with Octoprint 😅
@DJGummikuh I had a slightly different problem with the printer display. It was on all the time even though the printer was off. It must have been getting power from the Raspberry Pi somehow, so I disconnected it completely 😅
@mixon00 haha yeah it is one of the recommended things to do, isolate the power supply on the connection between the pi and your printer to prevent the Pi from backpowering the board.
@DJGummikuh I didn't know I had to do that. I need to read how to do this before I damage the board. Thanks for letting me know about this.
@mixon00 well it's not a "need", more like a "should". I never did it because I couldn't be arsed to be fair, but I know many do it to be able to get their printer truely "off"
