Mayor Eric Adams has been indicted on federal charges of #bribery, #fraud & #soliciting illegal #foreign campaign #donations.

The indictment, which was unsealed on Thurs morning, follows an investigation that started in 2021 & has focused at least in part on whether he conspired w/ the #Turkish government to receive illegal foreign campaign contributions & whether he took official actions on its behalf.

Federal prosecutors said that #EricAdams “sought & accepted improper valuable benefits” for at least a decade, when he was then the Brooklyn borough president.

Early this morning, federal agents searched the official residence of Adams, hours before Damian Williams, the US attorney for the #SDNY, will discuss the a federal #indictment against the #NYC mayor.

The have focused since 2021 on whether #EricAdams & his campaign conspired w/the govt of #Turkey to receive illegal foreign donations, & on whether Adams pressured fire dept ofcls to sign off on the opening of a Manhattan high-rise consulate building for the Turkish govt, despite safety concerns.

At about 6AM on Thurs, nearly a dozen men & women dressed in business attire arrived in SUVs outside the entrance of Gracie Mansion, the mayor’s ofcl residence.

The difference is in how the two parties deal with corrupted officials. Republicans let it all slide for cynical political expediency. They'll try to use race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, whatever...

Doesn't matter, they'll sacrifice their entire collective integrity on the altar of "WINNNING!" 🤡
