Stumbled upon this take and just enjoyed the perspective. The person goes on to outline wording that should be used if someone is wanting to get onto the panel. I didn't include that but I can if folks are interested "Announcing the death penalty in a super liberal city isn’t just performative, it’s a tactical move to shape the jury pool. Since death penalty cases require death-qualified jurors (anyone fundamentally opposed gets removed), this effectively narrows the pool to the most conservative-leaning people in an otherwise liberal area. Prospective jurors will need to speak very carefully about their capital punishment beliefs in order to make the cut. Not just in juror interviews, but online and in public as well. If they can’t find enough jurors who are open to the death penalty, prosecutors can push for a venue change, arguing that the city is too biased to seat a fair jury. That could move the trial to a more conservative jurisdiction, making conviction (and a death sentence) far more likely."

⚯ Michel de Cryptadamus ⚯Trump won #EliseStefanik's district by more than 20 points. Now Trump is so worried that if she leaves #Congress to accept the nomination to be UN Ambassador Republicans could lose the special election to replace her. Given the polling plus the reality of who votes in special elections (highly motivated, highly educated voters) I suspect this fear is not unwarranted.
On the one hand this is encouraging because it shows republicans have internal polling that has them legitimately worried.
On the other hand it sucks that Trump was savvy enough to pull Stefanik's nomination. Losing a congressional election in such a safely red district would send an enormous shock wave through the entire US Congress that would cause a lot of them to grow a spine, because the voters would have made it crystal clear that a lot of "safe" republican seats are now tossups and the members need to adjust their activity accordingly.

Good article in The Prospect about the coming STABLE and GENIUS acts, which will give an implicit bail out guarantee to crypto money laundering firms - sorry, i mean "stablecoins" - like #Tether and #Circle (#Coinbase). One of the two would also let #ElonMusk print his own dollars.
Senate #Democrats like #KirstenGillibrand, #ElissaSlotkin, and #RubenGallego, whose election campaigns were supported by incredible amounts of crypto money, will probably make sure these bills become laws (because they are corrupt).
Note that stablecoins are currently incredibly profitable businesses. After all a stablecoin is basically a bank where you spend nothing on anti-money laundering & other regulations, refuse to assist customers who have been scammed, and collect 5% interest from the US government while passing absolutely none of it on to your customers.
