But my main point is: even older, non-EV and non-futuristic cars have mechanical contraptions. So that’s not something you can blame modern EV car design.
Do shutter lights have advantages ? I have no idea - but they do have the numbers, so they’ll have a reason/competitive advantage , I guess ?
@aertsbe I can blame it on EVs! Yes, non-EVs have had dumb designs, but they’re way, way more prevalent on EVs. And in this particular case, we have a direct comparison with the non-EV version of the same car that has normal headlights.

Obviously I wanted to test it: if I activate the headlights with the engine off, you hear the shutters slam quite clearly (while, if they switched off the lights, you’d hear nothing from a solid-state switch)
