@foon@harshil I’m trying to learn Spanish, and learned “parientes” but also “familiares” for relatives. I’m fuzzy on any differences in sentiment. Parents specifically are “padres”. I suspect that it’s English that’s strange here.
@keithg@foon@harshil “Padres” is father and mother. “Familiares” is used for close family (padres, hermanos, maybe grandparents). “Parientes” is for more distant members of a family. That said, sometimes in Spain “la parienta” is used to refer to one’s wife 🤣
