Currently in Oban waiting for an afternoon ferry to Barra before tackling the Hebridean Way. Weather was glorious yesterday, looking good today and hoping it’s holds for when we start riding on Friday.

Enjoy it! I cycled the Hebridean Way in May this year with my wife. A lovely part of the world.🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️
The weather can be challenging...
We cycled south-to-north, as per the prevailing wind, but of course mostly the wind came from the north... ☹️
We took a fairly relaxed 8 days for the whole route, including the final dog-leg back to Stornoway.
@tpuddle Thanks. We are also hoping for a tailwind as we head north but know this may not be the case. Perhaps biggest concern is we hit Harris and Lewis on Sunday and everything looks to be closed! We have 5 days but only one day is fairly long.
@Blackhound
Yep, almost everything will be closed on a Sunday in Harris. We went through Tarbert on a Sunday and there was a pub was doing food.
We also found that many cafes were closed on Mondays too... ☹️
Better supermarkets on the southern part of the trip, fewer in the north.
@tpuddle Thanks for confirming, one cafe in Cross we have identified is open Monday’s. The pub in Tarbet is useful to know about. We’ll have a dehydrated meal packed for that day for emergencies.

@Blackhound @tpuddle I hope you have a great trip. It is a stunningly beautiful part of the world.

When I rode the #HebrideanWay, the hotel in Tarbert was my Sunday salvation.
