I think the reason this works is the overexposure and glare from bright daylight kind of overpowers colours, making shadows look more colourful in comparison. While at night there’s not enough light in shadows to see much colour, so then lit things look more colourful.

@jonikorpi Saturated shadows when it's sunny probably emulates bounce light too maybe?

@designerbradley Yeah definitely! I think the daytime shadow tint we perceive comes primarily from light bouncing off the sky. Kind of teal in the morning, and more purple in the evening.
