You are officially classified as a dinosaur πŸ¦• if you ever encounter the "lp0 on fire" πŸ”₯ error on Unix.
@nixCraft That one I haven't got but I have got "You don't exist! Go away!"
@nixCraft Nah, in those days I couldn't afford a printer.

@nixCraft 'was aggravated by the fact that if the printer continued to operate, it would feed a fire with fresh paper at high speed' (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lp0_on_fire)

That's a bad day...

lp0 on fire - Wikipedia

@nixCraft False. Dinosauria is defined as the MRCA (most recent common ancestor) of Triceratops, Megalosaurus, and Iguanodon and all its descendants. Most never encountered the "lp0 on fire" error.

/Scrute

@BoydStephenSmithJr @nixCraft This is true as much as boring πŸ˜‰

@nixCraft Ahhh... the modern era, in which devices are beautifully handled via file abstraction via /dev

Much more convenient than sending bit streams to specific registers to activate each pixel in the dot-matrix printer that didn't have "descenders" so letters like "y" looked wonky AF

Like we did with the TRS-80 Model I

@nixCraft, no printers connected to parallel ports here, so next to no chance of seeing that. (I did have, years ago, and…)
