/ 🌟 🌟🌟 Excited to share that our paper, "Analyzing Cultural Representations of Emotions in LLMs through Mixed Emotion Survey," has been accepted for #ACII2024 and is nominated for the Best Paper Award! 🎉 (https://arxiv.org/pdf/2408.02143) This work was a collaborative effort with Ibrahim Said Ahmad, Ryoko Kitajima, and Agata Lapedriza 🙌
/ Our research investigates how Large Language Models (LLMs) reflect cultural differences in emotional expression. Here are the key takeaways:
/ Limited alignment: LLMs showed limited alignment in replicating Mixed Emotion phenomena. They often struggle to accurately reflect the complex emotional nuances present in different cultures.
/ Variability in alignment: LLMs differ in how they align or misalign with the concept of Mixed Emotion. This inconsistency indicates a need for more robust training methods to capture cultural subtleties.
/ Language sensitivity: These models are more sensitive to the language used than to the actual content. This suggests that the language itself plays a crucial role in how emotions are processed by LLMs.
/ Looking forward to presenting our findings at #ACII2024 and discussing how we can make AI more inclusive and culturally aware. 🌍🤖 #AI #Emotions #CulturalRepresentation #NLP #Research #InclusiveAI #ResponsibleAI
