Since Jill Stein only shows up every 4 years I wanted to quickly remind everyone, not just of this photo, but how notoriously difficult to it is to have access to war criminal Vladimir Putin, let alone *a seat at a table with him*. Backing Jill Stein is willful ignorance.

#Election #election2024

@skykiss

I suspect Jill Stein is showing up regularly but the only time the media pays attention is every 4 years.

I also wonder if you can call an electoral system democratic if it forces you to choose between two parties or be content to have your vote never elect anyone.

@the5thColumnist @skykiss

I don't get it. We should each be able to choose a candidate that we want? How does that work?

@DeborahForPlus @the5thColumnist @skykiss I'm definitely voting for Harris but understand the sentiment of our votes not counting because of the stupid electoral college. My vote for president in Tennessee hasn't mattered in years. I really wish we had a system with lots of different parties like in Europe and whoever wins has to form governing coalitions. But I know that will never happen. #uspol

@Jennifer @the5thColumnist @skykiss

Liberals/lefties/moderates need to move into the states with no people long enough to offer amendments to the constitution like getting rid of electoral college and maybe changing # senators

Plus formalizing equal rights for everyone without regard to gender, "race", country of origin, "creed", sexual preferences, gender self description, etc. Etc Political, personal, body autonomy. Etc

@the5thColumnist @skykiss
Yes, you can.
BTW, we in Italy had a full proportional electoral system for decades and yet:
1. some people still managed to support parties that did not elect anyone
2. flaws and manipulations grew more and more to the point that changing to a different system was felt as necessary

Because:
2. Bad politicians find a way to manipulate EVERY system
1. People who prefer to pursue division in the name of perfection always exist and are the best allies of bad politicians

@Eh__tweet @the5thColumnist @skykiss goddamn that last point is fantastic, imma write it down to remember it and use it in future conversations
@the5thColumnist @skykiss she is not, you need to recalibrate your suspicions. She lives (or lived, not sure about right now) one town over from us. As far as I can tell, she has less elected political experience than I do -- she was a town meeting member in Lexington for four years, in our town I've been a town meeting member longer than that. Town meeting is small beer; mostly we rubber-stamp procedural stuff and proposals presented by the select board and other more focused committees.
@skykiss
My erroneous assumption was based more on my knowledge of how the media works rather than her specifically.

@the5thColumnist @skykiss

Here's a quick question: How many state-level seats does the green party currently have?

There's only two viable candidates, because no third party bothers to put in the work to win at the state level. If the greens actually cared, they would put in the work.

They don't care. It's a scam.

@csstrowbridge @skykiss

Alternative theory - a system designed for two parties actually discourages serous third party participation.

@the5thColumnist @skykiss

The Reform Party.

They showed a third party can win and nothing came from it, because no one in the party was willing to put in the work to grow the party.

@skykiss There is a saying in Spanish: Dime con quien andas y te dire quien eres. Which translates to: Tell me who you are with, and I'll tell you who you are. Why would anyone choose to sit at the table with a vile dictator like Putin? unless you are getting something in return.
@skykiss the green party in germany backs to 99% Ukraine and despite their anti-war roots they are Ukraine's strongest advocate for weapon's support. Maybe Stein should talk (and listen) to Baerbock.
@skykiss So we better vote for the other x2 genocidal candidates, because Stein had a meeting with Putin back in 2015, correct?

@ankostis @skykiss

yes

because it's going to be trump or harris

and harris wants to stop the fighting, and trump wants to raze gaza and put up a trump hotel there

those are your realistic choices

now are you going to choose, in reality?

or ignore reality and help the guy who wants to destroy gaza? because that's what not voting/ voting stein achieves. in reality

if you are not merely foolish, maybe helping trump is indeed the real intent with your words

@ankostis @skykiss Voting for candidates with low polling numbers is a waste of time in a first past the post election anyways...

@ankostis @skykiss

I hope you are being paid by Putin, because otherwise this is just pathetic.

@csstrowbridge @skykiss

Are you being paid by Zelensky?

What kind of ad-hominem logic is this? Did it solved any of your problems??

@ankostis @skykiss Yes! Because you are GOING to see one of those two win, and tell me:

why would you prefer Trump?

@kahomono @skykiss

I don't.

But you're too credulous to believe that a vote for the swamp can make a difference.

@ankostis @skykiss Jill Stein is a scam and anyone who votes for her is the sucker. The end.
@ankostis @skykiss and you’re registered to vote in which state?
@DonWeaver @skykiss
Greece.
A vasal-state of yours ;-)
@skykiss They all came because: Free Food! American!
@skykiss #alt4you 6 tables, mostly white men in black tie, eating.
Head table:
Michael Flynn, Retired Lt. Gen. U.S. Army
Emir Kusturica, Film Director
Willy Wimmer, Former German Bundestag mbr
Cyril Svoboda, Former Deputy Prime MinisterCzech Republic
Vladimir Putin, President of Russia
Maja Kusturica, Emir's wife
Alexey Gromov, Putin's Deputy Chief of Staff
Sergey Ivanov, Putin's then Chief of Staff
Jill Stein, U.S. Green Party Presidential Candidate
Dmitry Peskov, Putin's Spokesman

@skykiss

How many of those Russian's leapt out of a tall building, or some other "unlive" process?

@skykiss
💯

Also a good reminder of just how dangerous traitor Michael Flynn is

@skykiss

Before you all tread that path of condemnation based on a single picture, you should really listen to her explanation as to why she was there and what happened at that conference. Then decide.

To not have an informed opinion before judging is to fall for the same propaganda machine that has already ruined the country.

(btw... I'm sorry that it is on Facebook).

@skykiss It's not willful ignorance It's deliberate when she shows up every four years to create more damaged to America.
@skykiss Is Susan Sarandon backing her again?
@skykiss And seated right next to Putin's propagandist/fluffer Dmitry Peskov, too! I doubt the seating arrangements were an accident, either, given where everyone else was seated.
Yeah... no, photographs are too easily doctored. I'll need more proof than that if you expect me to believe Jill Stein had a public dinner with Vladimir Putin in 2015 claiming she was going to talk to Russia about her foreign policy before getting elected, but never got the chance to, because Vladimir came and sat down at her table, without a Russian translator present, just long enough for people to take photographs. Apparently she came to convince Russia to enter into an agreement with the USA to stop all weapon shipments to the middle east and freeze the bank accounts of certain Saudi princes. This is illegal under US law according to the Logan Act, but the fact that absolutely no one listened to Jill Stein's speech makes it hard to say she was negotiating on behalf of the USA at all, since everyone ignored her.

Anyway as she is the candidate who believes homeopathy is not a lie to scam desperate people out of their money, I can't support Jill. Better than Donald, but again, the presidential election is about parties, not candidates, and the vote is kind of broken. I don't really have an opinion about this photo, but nobody in their right mind should believe you if a photo is all you provide, so here have some sources:

That infamous Moscow dinner where Michael Flynn and Jill Stein sat with Putin? Utah’s Rocky Anderson was there, too.

It’s your typical dinner banquet photo, except for who’s seated at the table.

it's important to be suspicious of intent, and fabricated evidence

but stein herself admits this is real

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ot9QbFjRSwM

so yes, you are correct, we need to be suspicious

but we can't distrust everything

instead:

investigate, and verify, and then believe

don't just disbelieve everything

endless disbelief is a path to being manipulated by disinfo as surely as fabricated evidence is, and cynicism, fostering cynicism, is in fact the point of russia's firehose of falsehood

Jill Stein: I didn't speak to Putin

YouTube
@skykiss I have a friend who is passionate about Palestine. We normally agree on politics, but I just can't get across to them any more. They have bought the Putinist view that Ukraine and America are to blame for the Russian invasion. They will likely vote for Stein, thinking a vote for Democrats is a vote in support of continuing genocide in Palestine. Our votes won't matter that much because we are both in California, but it bothers me a lot that a smart, well-informed person fell for this.
@skykiss Putin is the guy who insists on a big table between him and his cabinet ministers! But he'll sit next to Jill Stein and Michael Flynn. He knows who's guaranteed to be on his side.
@skykiss
It took me a while to get to the bottom of this. Stein was attending an event for RT the broadcaster that had a presence in the West prior to being banned after the Ukraine invasion (which Stein has condemned).

Jill Stein’s Ties to Vladimir Putin Explained

Since the Green Party candidate announced another presidential bid, images of her seated with the Russian president have resurfaced.

Newsweek

@skykiss
From that Newsweek article on Stein and that 2015 event:

"Speaking to The Intercept in 2017, she said the notion that it was an "intimate roundtable" was "mythology," and that Putin and his associates "weren't at the table for very long." Stein said that "nobody introduced anybody to anybody" and that she "didn't hear any words exchanged between English speakers and Russians" due to the lack of a translator."

How many pictures are there of Democrat Party leaders with Putin?

The thrill of breaking bread with Vladimir Putin and Michael Flynn

@skykiss

So your theory of the case is Stein is Putin's puppet so they decided to photograph them both together in public?

That's all you got?!

Remember: If you, like most Americans, live in a "safe state" you can safely vote your conscience if you can't vote for genocide.

@skykiss AOC tore her a new one. You have to be #MAGA stupid to vote Green. Really popular in Europe unfortunately.
