Last night, I went to an early access screening at #AMCTheatres for #MyOldAss .  I loved it.  Absolutely loved it.  I can see why some people might have objections to it, but I thought it was perfect.

It's a coming-of-age story from a slightly different viewpoint.  I was initially interested in it because #AubreyPlaza is in it, playing the older version of a younger character.  That's all I knew. /1

The ensemble cast was very good, and it was nice to see #PercyHynesWhite , who I'd liked in the television show #TheGifted .

#AubreyPlaza is terrific in this, and she definitely shines extra brightly in a few particular scenes. #MyOldAss /2

But the star turn comes from #MaisyStella , who I haven't seen since she was a young girl in the TV show #Nashville , which I loved.  She is the lead role in this film, and she's definitely come into her own as a newly-minted adult, and she is absolutely amazing in this film.  She hits every note, and watching her movements and gestures and facial expressions and inflections is pretty amazing in an actor so young. #MyOldAss /3

I was also happy to see that a particular scene showed off some of #MaisyStella 's talents other than acting.  So much fun.

Writer/Director #MeganPark does a fantastic job with this film.  It's fun and funny and poignant and will rip your heart out.  Smaller films tend to have a harder time breaking through for Oscar nominations, but I would expect some love at least from the Spirit Awards.

The film officially comes out September 13.  I highly recommend it. #MyOldAss /4 end
