@daniel_collin I donβt have a source within reach, but I believe para archer performance is superior to non-para because the core and leg muscle groups are outright bigger than the trapezius. So, they could outshoot us Olympic Recurve shooters because they have the leg dexterity.
One wonders if a leg shooter could show up at the Olympics someday. I wonder if the rules forbid it? Certainly recurve rigs are larger and more cumbersome than these compound ones.
@gorlak @daniel_collin This is W1 category, the athletes use a compound bow, a bow with a levering system in order to aid them to bend the limbs. This type of bow isn't allowed at Olympics, though there is another category in which the athletes can choose to use a recurve bow.
As for the performance, yeah they can absolutely compete with able-bodied athletes. In Italy almost every paralympic national qualifies to able-bodied italian championship.
@rjblaskiewicz @daniel_collin Seems to be her chin, note where the tape is.
From what I'm reading Devi's won 2 golds at the Asian Para Games, her coaches apparently found her *climbing trees*. With her feet.
