Should I stay child-free or should I get a baby? 🧵
✅ GOOD NEWS: Don't worry, it doesn't matter!
❌ BAD NEWS: The only difference is your gender. You will have to justify both being child-free and having a baby in your career.

✅ GOOD NEWS: Don't worry, it doesn't matter!
❌ BAD NEWS: The only difference is your gender. You will have to justify both being child-free and having a baby in your career.
❌ ANOTHER BAD NEWS: Whether you choose to stay child-free or have children, either choice could be bad for your career if you meet the wrong people.
✅ ANOTHER GOOD NEWS: So do what you think is right for YOU! ...and look for people who are curious and not judgmental. Look for people who support you as a human being, no matter what your gender or choice is.
I have been in both situations and have had to justify both a child-free life and having a baby in many conversations.
🗣️ "Oh, Rosanna, why don't you have kids?"
🗣️ "Oh, Rosanna, you need to get kids."
🗣️ "Oh, Rosanna, but you don't understand it. You don't have a family."
🗣️ "Oh, Rosanna, you can devote your time to your career, because you don't have kids."
🗣️ "Oh, Rosanna, you want kids and a career?!?!?! Especially, as an executive?!?!?!"
🗣️ "Oh, Rosanna, you cannot have kids and a career! It's either kids or a career!"
🗣️ "Oh, Rosanna, once you have your baby, you will never want to work again."
🗣️ "Oh, Rosanna, your priorities will change. You will no longer want to make a career."
🗣️ "Oh, Rosanna, are you giving your baby to a daycare?! If you put a one-year-old in a daycare, you don't love your baby." (this one was actually said by a kindergarten teacher!)
These are real examples

Having to justify and being judged for not having children is not right.
